MINI MEDAL PROGRAM

At YDP Dance Studio, we believe in building a strong foundation for young dancers. While ballet is often the first choice for parents enrolling their little ones in dance, we feel that beginners thrive when exposed to a variety of styles, helping them develop a true passion for dance and discover what they enjoy most.

The Mini-Medal Program, developed by ADPA, is designed to introduce young dancers to multiple dance styles within a structured syllabus. By combining various genres into one program, children gain a well-rounded understanding of dance while developing essential skills. The program consists of three progressive levels, each carefully designed to enhance technique, coordination, and overall performance more effectively than training in a single style alone.

This unique program is the result of extensive research and development. Since implementing the ADPA Mini-Medal Syllabus, we have seen remarkable improvements in our dancers’ technical abilities, confidence, and performance at a young age.

At YDP Dance Studio, we teach traditional jazz with a modern twist. We are passionate about the precision, strength, and clean lines that define classic jazz while continuously evolving with today’s music, movement, and styles.

Jazz is bold, high-energy, and full of attitude - it’s athletic, powerful, and expressive. From the timeless elegance of Fosse to the dynamic strength of A Chorus Line, jazz challenges dancers to push their limits.

A great jazz dancer commands the stage with confidence, technique, and fire. They are unpredictable yet refined, combining exceptional skill with a bold, captivating presence.

Our jazz training follows the ADPA syllabus, ensuring a structured and progressive approach that develops strong, versatile dancers ready to take on any style with power and precision.

ACROBATICS

Acrobatics, or Acro, is a dynamic and physically demanding art form that blends elements of balance, flexibility, agility, and strength. It is widely recognized in acro dance, circus performance, and gymnastics, requiring both technical precision and athletic ability.

As part of the ADPA Acro Program, dancers develop a strong foundation in both dance and acrobatic skills, ensuring safe and effective execution of movements. Acro challenges dancers to push their physical limits, combining strength and control with fluid movement.

At YDP Dance Studio, we follow the ADPA syllabus, which focuses on progressive skill development in acrobatics, flexibility, tumbling, and strength training. This structured approach helps dancers build confidence, coordination, and mastery of acrobatic elements while enhancing their overall dance technique.

Contemporary dance is an expressive and versatile dance style that blends elements of modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. Unlike the structured nature of ballet, contemporary dance emphasizes freedom of movement, improvisation, and fluid transitions, allowing dancers to explore a wide range of emotions and musical styles.

A key focus of contemporary dance is floor work, where dancers use gravity and momentum to move seamlessly between levels. It is typically performed barefoot to enhance connection with the floor and allow for greater articulation of movement. Contemporary dancers aim to unite mind and body through expressive, dynamic, and organic movement.

At YDP Dance Studio, we follow the ADPA Contemporary Syllabus, which provides structured yet creative training to develop strength, flexibility, musicality, and emotional expression. Through this program, dancers refine their technique while embracing the artistry and storytelling that contemporary dance offers.

LYRICAL

Lyrical dance is a graceful and expressive dance style that blends elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary. It focuses on conveying emotion and storytelling through movement, often inspired by the lyrics of the music. Lyrical dancers aim to create a deep connection between music, movement, and emotion, making performances both powerful and heartfelt.

Music for lyrical dance is typically emotional and expressive, guiding dancers in their movements and interpretation. Dancers use fluidity, control, and technique to bring the music’s message to life, whether expressing love, joy, longing, or passion.

At YDP Dance Studio, our ADPA Lyrical Syllabus serves as a bridge to contemporary dance, introducing dancers to expressive movement while developing strength, control, and artistry. This structured syllabus helps dancers build the technical foundation and emotional depth needed to transition into contemporary dance seamlessly.
